Hi
Something is bothering me: If, just when I write this message, I run "systeminfo" in a DOS box, I can see this:
Total Physical Memory: 2 046 MB Available Physical Memory: 1 382 MB Page File: Max Size: 4 325 MB Page File: Available: 2 975 MB Page File: In Use: 1 350 MB
Why does Vista prefers using page file when there is lots of RAM free? Why use so much Page File when there is enough RAM to host all processes? Is there a way to force Vista to use first the RAM, then the PF? Thank you

Vista 3508 does not use as much RAM as it could?
I don't think I am correct, but Page File is being used to store temporary data such thumbnail data. If you ever open Pictures, and select and image and see a preview of the image in the Properties Bar or even a thumbnail itself in the Pictures folder, thats what it is used for, so they will appear to load faster instead of using the memory to render and regenerate them everytime. Thats Vista eats hard disk space so much I believe. -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Well, it doesn't seem PF is used for thumbnails, as, even with 4 pictures only in my Pictures folder, Explorer needs a few seconds to display a thumbnail... on a P4 2.8GHz HT with 2GB of RAM. Vista may just not be optimized yet on its RAM hunger ;)
